Flip (formerly Flipgrid) is a free web and mobile app from Microsoft where educators create safe, online groups for students to express their ideas asynchronously in short video, text, and audio messages. FlipgridLIVE is the biggest event of the year for Flip. It is a keynote celebrating all the newest features of the app, much like an Apple keynote but for educators, specifically. In 2021, the keynote was virtual for the 2nd year in a row.
2021 brand guide Below is a sampling of the brand guidelines for the 2021 campaign. This guide served as direction for the creation of the registration landing page, emails, animated event graphics, Teams backgrounds, merchandise, presentation decks, as well as all owned social.

Design uses bold colors and strong contrast to complement the loud and proud nature of the FlipgridLIVE experience. Gilroy Extrabold and Light provide a visually striking contrast between weights, while backgrounds of bold colors and black set the stage for messages reversed out in white to command the eye’s attention. Our main logo uses the font Preta to incorporate a playful element, but should be used sparingly to emphasize only the most important messages. Lastly, it is suggested for all dimensional elements to have animations fly up from the bottom or in from the side before copy appears over them. This ensures our messaging and design elements will not compete for attention, and will provide moments of delight in the design.

emails Various emails sent to announce the upcoming event and generate excitement for it, to confirm registration, a reminder on the day of, and a follow-up directly afterward.
Printed Invitation To make sure the virtual event still felt special and exclusive, printed invitations were mailed out to Flipgrid's ambassadors. A unique narrow size and shape, vertical tri-fold, uncoated premium velvet matte card stock, and spot gloss on the logo all added to the perception of a VIP experience.
